Critique Response

The midterm critique was eye-opening, informative, and, constructive. This was my first Critique ever. The Zoom format made it awkward and slightly harsher, I'm assuming. Art should be ideally seen in person unless it's digital. There are certain nuances of an artist's work that must be seen in person to fully experience it. I also feel that when speaking to a person from behind a computer screen this allows for critiques to come off harsher. Pandemic fatigue is real and personally, I am feeling it. That being said Critiques are meant to help you grow as an artist, I received some feedback that I expected: MORE WORK NEEDED. Professor Fleischer suggested that I look at Wangechi Mutu, while also exploring more painting on canvas and Professor Bernard said my images lacked relevance to my personal exploration of Imposter Syndrome. For me, it's a balance of receiving the information and making appropriate changes in direction but also staying true to my artistic exploration.
